IRONWOOD FOREST NATIONAL MONUMENT PETROGLYPHS

Some of the petroglyphs seen with a local archaeologist in southern Arizona's Ironwood Forest National Monument.

These are just a few of the hundreds we saw on this outing earlier this month.

No reputable archaeologist will try to explain the meaning of petroglyphs.

A BIT OF LOCAL ARIZONA HISTORY

This 1940's ranch house once housed the family that ranched thousands of acres just NW of Tucson. It still stands on a small hill that overlooks what is now the Dove Mountain community and is within walking distance from our house.

The Saguaro Cacti have been blooming since April.  Here is a Saguaro with some new blooms along an old road in Ruelas Canyon where I frequently walk.

ORGAN PIPE NATIONAL MONUMENT, ARIZONA

Organ Pipe National Monument lies along the international border with Mexico.

The iconic Organ Pipe cactus only grows in the US in southern Arizona.

Enjoyed some hikes in the Ajo Mountains.  This is Ajo Canyon full of Saguaro and Organ Pipe cacti.

Driving into Ajo Canyon.

There is no place in the US like Organ Pipe National Monument!

#EARTH2TRUMP ROADSHOW TODAY IN TUCSON

Some time with the Center for Biological Diversity's mascot at their #Earth2Trump Roadshow event in Tucson today.

The Roadshow is traveling the country.  One route in the Northern USA and one route in Southern USA both traveling from the West Coast to Washington DC for events during the inauguration.

So far the Roadshow today in Tucson has been the largest gathering with almost 1,000 people attending and pledging their support for protection of our natural resources and wild lands.

Tomorrow, Silver City, New Mexico!
