SAGUARO NATIONAL PARK BUTTERFLY
Photos: B. Lichtenhan
While gathering seeds from native plants in Saguaro National Park West outside of Tucson, we had a visit by a couple of Great Purple Hairstreak butterflies. The Sweet Bush was visited by many other butterflies including Queen, Southern Dogface, Metalmark, Painted Lady, and Yellow Sulphur. The Sweet Bush was one of the plants we gathered seeds from, a project of Sky Island Alliance and Borderlands Restoration. Borderlands will plant the seeds and the plants will be returned to Saguaro for a pollination garden.
