AZURE BLUEBIRD NEST BOXES

One of the 17 bluebird nest boxes made by Tucson Audubon volunteers and placed on the Keif-Joshua and Callaghan vineyard's properties.  I am monitoring these boxes once a month along with other volunteers to ensure weekly monitoring in determining any use by Azure Bluebirds.

There are numerous other private properties - most are vineyards - in the Sonoita Arizona area that have allowed many bluebird nest boxes.  All are being monitored weekly by volunteers.  The generosity of these property owners is making a difference in the survival of this beautiful native bird.

It was a rare cloudy, cold, windy, and moist day for monitoring yesterday in Sonoita.

A view of how the interior of the nest box is accessed for inspection.
