MEETING A RARE DESERT TORTOISE

This treasured Desert Tortoise was waiting for us as we hiked down a creek bed recently in Catalina State Park just north of Tucson.  Right now the Prickly Pear cacti fruit are ripe and it is a favorite of this tortoise.  They will have red mouths from eating the juicy fruit.
