Yesterday I was thrilled to find three Queen butterfly (danaus gilippus) caterpillars on my native Desert Milkweed
(asclepias subulata ). There are two in this picture. Aren't they beautiful? They are eating away the leaves as they move up and down the milkweed stems. I am looking forward to a few chrysalis! Once I get some seeds from this plant I will scatter them around our yard. I recommend planting a milkweed native to the area for our butterflies to lay their eggs. It is a very exciting experience.
